1. Prepare the necessary items

Gather together a working battery, jumper cables, a toolkit, safety goggles, and any additional instructions

2. Ensure the two cars are not touching each other

3. Turn off both cars and ensure that all accessories such as the headlights and radios are off

4. Connect the positive (red) jumper cable to the positive (+) post of the dead battery

5. Connect the other end of the red cable to the positive (+) post of the good battery

6. Connect one end of the black cable to the negative (-) post of the good battery

7. Connect the other end of the black cable to a clean unpainted metal surface, away from the battery, on the car with the dead battery

8. Start the engine of the car with the good battery

9. Start the engine of the car with the dead battery

10. After the engine has started, remove the cables in the reverse order of how they were connected
